Back To School Pep Talk

The back-to-school pep talk you need!

YOU GOT THIS!

The beginning of the year can sometimes feel overwhelming. And I’m here to remind you that…

✰ You don’t need to have everything together.

✰ You don’t need to have your class decked out.

✰ Everything will come with time & help from your class!

My class was EMPTY! Nothing on the walls, toys tucked away, bulletins empty and just a simple alphabet on the board.

What did this allow me to do?

  • It allowed me to interact more and get to know my learners
  • Learn how they are able to communicate
  • Build a rapport with each student
  • And understand what they need in the room to succeed

Pick a couple things to focus on:

  • Having their names in the room to make them feel welcome
    • Either on a desk, above a group, and/or on the door
  • Classroom routines you want to establish
    • For example – entry/exit, lining up, sitting on the carpet/at their desk, bin systems
  • Something to send home to families to let them get to know you

Reminder: it doesn’t need to be flashy, it needs to be functional!

And if you love things to aesthetically to look a certain way – pick an area in the room where this is possible – for me, it’s my teacher space/desk! ☺
